It’s time for a candlelight vigil. It’s set to take place immediately until the premiere of the rumored new Buffy movie, and to continue throughout opening weekend. According to multiple sources, the producers of the rumored film have reached out to Whedon’s agent, and Whedon’s response has been a resounding No. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Whedon said, “I believe [the producers] did ultimately reach out to my agent after the news broke. I think that’s something better left untouched by me. So, I wish them luck.”

So, we here at World of Whedon are left with conflicting thoughts. Are we mad at Joss for leaving behind the franchise that brought him such an adoring cult fanbase? Are we excited about seeing what can be done with the franchise to make it something new and exciting? Or, are we fearful of 1992 Buffy repeating itself?

Did you have mixed feelings about Dollhouse? Did you think the second half of the season was better? The Joss Gods agree with you. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Whedon said that he and his writers understand the show a lot better now. So even though the budget won’t be as big anymore, at least the storylines will be consistently engaging and have the Whedon-touch. Read the interview here

Currently, Adam Sandler is filming “Grown Ups” in the city, and in July, Christian Bale will be in town filming a movie with Boston native, Mark Wahlberg. This is very exciting and all, but what us Whedon-ites are truly looking forward to is running into every’s favorite Rogue Slayer and Doll, Eliza Dushku.

Is the possible remake of 1992’s original film Buffy the Vampire Slayer the worst idea ever? Mind you – this is Buffy pre-Sunnydale, with her first Watcher and no Willow or Xander or (gasp) Angel.

Still sound promising? Or at least no so bad? Still not convinced it is a totally awful idea?

How about this:  Joss Whedon isn’t even involved. At all.

Get in on what everyone is talking about, including Joss himself (we’ll be updating the list frequently)…

Pop Culture’s 10 Greatest Nerds

Greatest Nerd Award

And the winner is...

On Topless Robot’s new listing of Pop Culture’s 10 Greatest Nerds, the Whedonverse got a little love in the form of the Numero Uno spot: Everyone’s favorite nerdy witch, Willow Rosenberg.

“Pay no attention to immensely powered witch who hooked up with the ladies and occasionally flayed bastards alive — underneath that person is Willow Rosenberg, the gawky, overall-wearing computer genius who was overjoyed to be befriended by a cool kid like Buffy and longed for smart aleck Xander…”
